A two-year-old missing boy who disappeared from his Hernando County home in Florida has been found safe and sound after more than 24 hours.
Joshua ‘JJ’ Rowland was declared missing on Thursday morning after sneaking away from his home while his mother was sleeping inside the house.
The boy was last seen playing with his dogs at around 10 am, the police confirmed.
Following his disappearance, a massive search for Joshua was launched, whereas both the authorities, as well as some five hundred volunteers, raced against time to find the child.
Miraculously, the boy was found a day later by retired Marine Roy Link who volunteered to look for Joshua after hearing what had happened.
According to Roy, the boy was so scared after spending more than 24 hours alone in the wild that he wouldn’t let go of him as he brought him back to safety.
“I was hoping and praying for a miracle. I certainly was not expecting one but, I think a lot of people were praying and prayer works,” Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis said as he choked back tears.
“He’s definitely going to have something to tell his kids and grandkids about and I’m sure mom and dad are going to keep a closer eye on him from this point forward.”
The police also revealed that the boy was found some 0.6 miles away from his home after passing through a forest and ending up near Parott Middle School.
“Dealing with a lot but it meant the world for everybody reaching out for my baby. Amen,” Joshua’s father shared after his son was found.
