A Delta pilot was seen pulling off the most aggressive maneuver to avoid a collision with a military bomber, preventing what could have been a seriously disastrous incident over North Dakota.
The regional jet was heading near Minot International Airport after the 90-minute flight from Minneapolis-Saint Paul when passengers all of a sudden and the crew were startled as the pilot suddenly started to take a series of serious, sharp, and unexpected turns. Many were confused as to what was going on and why.
The plane was behaving in this manner as the pilots had just saved them from a catastrophic incident, as it had come very close to crashing into a massive B-52 bomber jet that was flying right out of Minot Air Force Base.
The pilot’s quick thinking is what led to the savior behavior, with many applauding the efforts and quick thinking and acting maneuver.
Investigations are taking place to determine how and why the military aircraft was flying so near to the passenger plane and how it did not see it, despite signals being given on the radar.
The pilots shared how they took a really hard turn, but that was needed. He also apologized to all the passengers on board, and many were just glad that they got the chance to land safely.
