Celebrity couple Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have already raised more than $20 million for the people of Ukraine.
Following Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and the blatant attack on the country’s sovereignty and democracy, Ukrainian-born Mila Kunis and husband Ashton Kutcher launched a fundraiser aimed to help the embattled people of Ukraine.
While the fundraiser has already reached an important milestone of $20 million, the two actors revealed they’re not stopping yet.
“We want to give you a little update on our campaign to stand with Ukraine. We have raised over $20 million in less than a week. And I say we because it’s all of us together,” Kutcher began.
“Some people didn’t have the means to give, and they’ve done an unbelievable job of getting the word out and sharing it. But we’re not done. Our goal is $30m, and we’re going to get there.”
Taking over, his wife added: “But we do want to say thank you to the 56,000 of you who were able to donate and supported us. Whether it was the $5, the $10, the $1,000, whatever it was it means so much to us because it does bring in a community and a sense of belonging and an ability to help.”
Calling on people to keep spreading awareness and donating to the best of their abilities, Kutcher revealed that “the first humanitarian aid is already on the ground.”
As the couple reported, supplies are already being delivered to NGOs dealing with the humanitarian crisis by Flexport.
“There have been over one million children, this is just children, that are in refugee status right now, and so every bit that we can do helps, and we appreciate you,” Kutcher concluded.
As of this writing, the exact number of displaced Ukrainians remains unclear. According to some reports, it is believed that around 2.5 million refugees have already left Ukraine.
