A celebrity dressed up as a cat before taking to the Met Gala red carpet on Monday.
Taking the ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ theme to the next level, a 51-year-old actor wore a full-body costume reminiscing Choupette, the late fashion designer’s beloved cat.
While posing for pictures in the realistic white catsuit, the actor eventually removed his mask to show his face. Can you guess who the person behind the mask was?
It was Jared Leto – a musician and actor known for his roles in top movies like American Psycho, House of Gucci, Fight Club, Suicide Squad, and more.
Leto’s tribute to the late fashion designer, who left a fortune to his beloved cat in his will, comes as the actor braces to portray Lagerfeld in an upcoming biopic that he is producing.
According to the reports, no one in attendance knew who the masked celebrity was until the mask was removed.
In one picture, Leto could be seen exchanging a hug with Lizzo as the singer watched on in confusion pondering who the person in the costume might be.
“I knew Karl. He was always such a kind man to me. I could just imagine him looking down with a big smile on his face, seeing Choupette in all his glory. So it’s a pleasure to be here to support this benefit,” the actor told ET in a brief interview on the red carpet.
After paying tribute to Lagerfeld and Choupette, Leto quickly changed his outfit and donned a long black top with lacy sleeves and a black cape with jeweled shoulder pads.
“I feel like this is a full-circle moment, and Karl would be proud of what we are doing,” Leto previously said after the late fashion designer’s biopic was confirmed.
“Karl was an artist. Period. He was a fashion designer, he was a photographer, he was an artist. There was no defining him. He was a creative powerhouse.”
