Tragic reports are confirming how the Atlantic Beach Bike Festival that took place in South Carolina went from a party to a tragedy in seconds.
The event was abruptly shut down by the police, who shared more about how panicked concert-goers caused a massive stampede on Saturday night.
The cause of the stampede is believed to be from an argument that sparked a sudden reaction with people’s shoes and personal belongings seen scattered on the floor as people fled.
Police shared how they are now investigating this matter and calling it a mass casualty event, with further updates expected to arrive sooner rather than later.
Atlantic Beach Interim Police Chief Carlos Castillo mentioned to an ABC affiliate, WPDE, how he would be answering some queries at some point in time, but not right now, as he had nothing much to reveal.
Another witness has come forward to mention how they saw an argument on the street amongst festival goers turn from bad to worse, and that it headed towards the stage. Those injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical care.
