Progressive New York Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is reportedly said to be eyeing a run for president in the year 2028, as per a report on Friday.
The socialist squad member is gearing up to seek higher office as she’s attempted to grow her presence across the nation and the Empire State, people familiar with the news confirmed.
Ocasio-Cortez and her team are deciding on whether to run for the Senate or the White House, sources shared.
The New York lefty ended up joining Senator Bernie Sanders, who was a former presidential candidate, on his national Fighting Oligarchy tour while she’s also held town halls across upstate New York this summer.
Cortez, who reps parts of Queens and the Bronx, has also doled out millions this year on growing her social media presence and obtaining a list of possible supporters and donors to raise her grassroots fundraising ceiling, Axios reported.
The outlet did make it clear that the 35-year-old lawmaker has yet to make any kind of decision on the future, but her team wants to give her choices.
If she ran for one of New York’s two US Senate seats, she’d likely challenge Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, though he has yet to confirm whether he’s planning to run for re-election or not.
