Grieving Meghan Markle was seen wiping tears from her face as she watched the Queen’s coffin being carried away in a solemn procession.
The Duchess of Sussex looked somber as she wept when Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin was brought out of Westminster Abbey for a final trip to Windsor following her funeral service.
In pictures from the emotional procession, Meghan, who was standing next to Queen Consort Camilla and the Princess of Wales Kate, was seen wiping away her tears after being overcome with emotion as she bade the late monarch one final farewell.
The tear-jerking moment took place as the Queen’s coffin was taken from Westminster Abbey to St George’s Chapel in Windsor where she was later buried alongside King George VI and her late husband, Prince Philip.
The Duchess of Sussex was also present during the Queen’s funeral service at Westminster Abbey where she stood by Prince Harry’s side in front of Her Majesty’s coffin.
Attending the funeral service were also the Queen’s four children, including King Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Prince Andrew, and her grandchildren as well as other members of the Royal Family.
The service is believed to be the most-watched event in TV history, whereas billions of people tuned in to pay their final respects to the Queen.
Meghan was also present in the procession before the funeral service when she, Harry, Kate, and William put their differences aside to walk side by side behind the Queen’s coffin.
The ceremonies come after the announcement of the Queen’s death on September 8 when the Sussexes were visiting the country to attend a series of events.
Their trip across the sea has since been extended due to unforeseen circumstances and it currently remains unclear when they will be returning to Montecito.
It is believed that their children, Archie and Lilibet, remain with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, in California for the time being.
