The Duchess of Sussex may not have traveled to Balmoral castle with her husband as she fears she would not be ‘warmly welcomed’ by other royals, BBC’s royal corresponded Nicholas Witchell claimed.
Meghan Markle reportedly stayed in London as she did not travel to Scotland with the Duke of Sussex.
Following news of Her Majesty’s ill health, a spokesperson for the couple previously stated that Prince Harry and Meghan would go to Scotland together to see the Queen.
But only hours later, reports emerged that Meghan would not be traveling to Balmoral.
It is not clear what caused the ‘change of plans’ and whether the duchess had chosen to stay away, like the Duchess of Cambridge who remained in Windsor with her three children.
But a royal expert claimed that Meghan fears she ‘might not be terribly warmly welcomed.’
“She might not be terribly warmly welcomed, to be perfectly candid about it,” Witchell said on air.
The death of the Queen was conformed by a Buckingham Palace spokesman, who said that she passed away ‘peacefully’ at Balmoral.
Harry reportedly traveled alone to the royal estate after the heartbreaking announcement.
After the news, Meghan and Harry’s Archewell website homepage has become a blacked-out landing page with: “In loving memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 1926-2022.”
Grieving for his grandmother, Harry will be expected to attend the funeral, with his wife also likely to be with him.
Meghan missed Philip’s funeral last year as she was heavily pregnant with daughter Lilibet.
The last time Harry and Meghan saw the Queen was in June when they flew to the UK for Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
