Prince Harry and his wife Meghan happened to be in the UK to appear in numerous events when the Queen passed away at Balmoral Castle.

They flew back to the US immediately after the state funeral to be reunited with their children, Archie and Lilibet, who were with Meghan’s mother Doria in California.

The rift between the couple and the Royals has made headlines since the Sussexes stepped down from their duties and decided to move to the US to start a new life.

But according to a royal book titled ‘Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown,’ a former palace insider told the author Valentine Low: “I think Meghan thought she was going to be the Beyoncé of the UK. Being part of the royal family would give her that kudos.

“Whereas what she discovered was that there were so many rules that were so ridiculous that she couldn’t even do the things that she could do as a private individual, which is tough… It just required the decision-makers to sit around a table and say, ‘OK, what are we going to do about this?’”

The Duchess of Sussex has previously shared how she felt trapped and ‘silenced’ while living as a senior royal.

In her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan claimed officials ‘lied’ to protect other royals instead of her and Harry.

She also said that she was shocked when her passport was taken from her after they tied the knot.

“When I joined that family, that was the last time I saw my passport, my driving license, my keys – all of that gets turned over,” Meghan shared, adding that she had been ‘naïve’ about the life of royals.

The Duchess also said that being ‘judged’ by people who had no idea about the reality of her daily life was ‘really tricky.’

“You’re being judged on the perception but you are living the reality of it, there’s a complete misalignment and there’s no way to explain that to people.”
