Meghan and Harry will reportedly fly back to the United States as soon as possible.
Speaking to The Times, sources suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are eager to return to their home in Montecito and are ready to do so as soon as they can.
Prince Harry and Meghan’s desire to fly back across the pond is likely the result of their prolonged absence from their children, Archie and Lilibet, who were allegedly left in the care of Meghan’s mother when the couple left the US.
The Sussexes arrived in the UK together, for the first time since the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, on September 3.
While they didn’t plan their trip to Europe to be a long one, the Queen’s death on September 8 meant they were bound to stay in the country much longer than expected.
On September 19, Queen Elizabeth II was laid to rest beside her husband, Prince Philip, and her father, George VI, following an emotional funeral service and procession during which Meghan and Harry were seen tearing up.
While sources confirmed that the couple remained in the UK following the Queen’s burial, it remains unclear how much longer they will stay and if they will meet with other royals – especially Prince William and King Charles – before their departure.
Understandably, however, the Montecito couple is eager to fly back home and be reunited with their children after an intense 10-day mourning period.
During this time, Meghan and Harry reunited with the royals and managed to put their differences aside – at least for the time being – as they walked side by side with Prince William and Kate outside Windsor to greet the Queen’s mourners.
Though the future of their relationship remains unclear, experts have since suggested that the two brothers – William and Harry – might just be able to use their shared love for their grandmother to reconcile and seal the rift between them.
