Harry and Meghan have reportedly run into trouble with Netflix after getting second thoughts about their $100 million docuseries deal.
As sources entrusted PageSix, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex found themselves “at odds” with Netflix producers after “panicking” and suggesting “extensive edits” should be made to their series.
According to the sources, the Montecito couple wants to “downplay much of what they have said about King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales.”
While it is unclear what Meghan and Harry want edited or left out of the docuseries, it is said that the suggested changes are so massive they could see the series shelved indefinitely.
“Harry and Meghan are panicked about trying to tone down even the most basic language. But it’s their story, from their own mouths,” one insider said.
Another source added: “They’ve made significant requests to walk back content they themselves have provided — to the extent that some Netflix staff believe, if granted, it will effectively shelve the project indefinitely.”
Meghan and Harry’s ‘unreasonable’ request, however, didn’t go down well with the show’s producers who received support from the streaming giant.
Sources claimed that the company is “standing by the filmmakers” and wants to move forward with the docuseries as planned.
The news comes days after a source from the entertainment industry suggested the couple grew doubts about their Netflix deal following the Queen’s death.
“A lot of conversations are happening. I hear that Harry and Meghan want the series to be held until next year, they want to stall,” the insider claimed.
“I wonder if the show could even be dead in the water at this point, do Harry and Meghan just want to shelve this thing?”
