The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined the newly appointed Prince and Princess of Wales to meet well-wishers gathered outside Windsor Castle on Saturday afternoon.
One of the videos of Meghan Markle has gone viral online as the heartwarming clip shows her approaching a mourner.
“What’s your name?” the mother-of-two can be heard asking before softly saying: “Oh how beautiful.”
Speaking about the beloved Queen’s passing, the Duchess of Sussex said to the girl: “Thank you for being here it means a lot to the family we appreciate it, thank you.”
“How long have you been waiting?” Meghan asked, to which the onlooker answered that they had been waiting for almost two hours.
“Oh goodness. Well, hopefully, you’ll be able to get back home soon. We appreciate you being here,” the Duchess added.
“Can I hug you?” the girl asked. The mother-of-two quickly replied: “Of course!” before pulling the young girl in for a warm embrace.
It is rare for a member of the royal family to hug in public but because of the emotional gravity of the situation, there are some exceptions where royals decided to break the rules.
“Oh my goodness!” other fans could be heard saying as hey witnessed Meghan’s loving reaction.
The onlooker who shared the moment on TikTok wrote: “Harry and Meghan were both absolutely lovely! It was so beautiful to witness and she is such a beautiful woman inside and out. We love you, Meghan.”
The joint appearance of Prince William and Prince Harry and their wives to meet royal fans marked a poignant moment for the brothers who have not been seen in public together for more than two years.
