A top general from Russia has reportedly been shot dead by a Ukrainian sniper.
According to local media reports, the general was recently identified as Major General Andrey Sukhovetsky who was killed by a sniper hailing from Ukraine yesterday.
This general was considered to be a leading military figure in Russia’s troops and that is why his sudden death is being looked upon as a huge setback to Russia’s special military operation, explained reports.
Now, many believe that the ongoing military operation isn’t going to continue as planned amid the Russian invasion after this news broke out.
“This will now be looked upon as a huge sign that the current military invasion by Russia isn’t moving in the right direction as they may have planned”- revealed one military expert.
The news comes as the armed forces in Ukraine went about claiming how at least 9000 Russian soldiers have died but this is contradictory to what the Kremlin is reporting as it continues to insist that only 500 of its soldiers have passed away.
Major General Andrew passed away as Russia’s deputy commander who handled the country’s 41st Combined Arms Army of the Central Military District.
This incident took place as Ukraine’s defense troops tried to repel away from the Russian offensive.
One military source has confirmed how the general was shot dead by a sniper in action.
Russia has confirmed the death and stated how the funeral for the most senior part of the military will now be held in his home country on Saturday.
After spending days in absolute denial about Russian troops being killed by Ukraine, the Kremlin finally released a statement that revealed how 498 troops were killed, which is a vastly contrasting figure from what is being stated by Ukraine.
