A New York man has reportedly been arrested on Thursday after admitting during a TV interview that he took the lives of his parents before burying them in the backyard of their New York residence, some eight years back.
The Albany Police Department mentioned in a statement on Thursday that officers arrested Lorenz Kraus after he confessed to the killings during an interview with a local CBS affiliate based in New York.
‘I buried them in their property’- he shared during the 30 minute long interview. Floyd then asked, ‘You buried them in the back of your home in Albany?’ That is when he replied with a firm ‘yes!’
The arrest stemmed from the financial crime investigation into Kraus’ parents’ social security benefits, police mentioned. Authorities executed a search warrant at Franz and Theresia Kraus’ Albany residence on Tuesday. This investigation revealed that the couple had not been heard from in so many years, and authorities suspected that the son had been out collecting the social security benefits and using those funds for their own personal use.
On Wednesday, the authorities received the bodies of Kraus’ parents in the home’s backyard. He chose to contact the media outlet himself to give a full confession of the killing incident, police confirmed.
He shared that he killed them because they were becoming more frail due to advancing age, and he knew that they were going downhill.
