A young woman has made headlines after becoming the first contestant to win an entirely makeup-free beauty pageant.
26-year-old Natasha Beresford is a dental nurse who competed against 18 other women to win the title of Miss London 2023 and be pronounced the first-ever winner of a makeup-free beauty pageant.
As part of the competition, contestants were previously asked to submit unfiltered pictures of themselves without applying cosmetics. This year, however, the organizers took things a step further by banning the women from wearing any makeup including lip gloss and lipstick.
According to the masterminds behind the competition, they wish to promote a realistic body image while boosting women’s confidence and empowering them to accept their natural looks.
“I find my job really rewarding, over the years I have worked in the NHS, as well as private and urgent care dental practices. For the future, I would like to do further training in dental radiography and oral health education,” Natasha said in her acceptance speech.
“I also plan on volunteering with Dentaid for their UK outreach dental clinics, where they provide dental care and oral health advice for people experiencing homelessness, survivors of abuse, families in poverty, refugees, cancer patients and people recovering from addiction.”
She continued: “I am thrilled to have been selected as Miss London. All the girls that competed are so beautiful and truly inspirational, so it was an honor to be chosen.
“I hope to use my title to inspire young women and girls to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin without makeup.”
Congratulations to Natasha on her big win!
