Shocking reports are speaking about an American Airlines flight that was forced to make an emergency landing under some very bizarre circumstances.
The flight that was operated by Sky West Airlines on behalf of American Airlines departed from Eppley Airfiled in Omaha to LA. Sources shared that the pilots became alert when they heard a strange sound coming from the cockpit doors while they were 30 minutes into the journey.
This raised the alarm and following security protocol, the plane was forced to make an abrupt landing as the crew declared emergency and chose to turn the plane back to Omaha.
Passengers were confused as nothing was communicated to them, and some wondered what was going on because upon landing, authorities were seen entering the plane.
Later, it was revealed that a communication malfunction is what led to those sounds and that was due to an inter-phone/intercom between the cockpit and crew being left on accidentally or it malfunctioned.
This produced a static and prevented the normal crew communication from taking place. Unable to communicate, flight attendants were seen banging on the cockpit doors to get the pilot’s attention, and that is when the pilots took that as a cockpit security breach or hijacking attempt.
Upon landing, the alert was canceled after it was clear that there was no security threat that existed in the first place.
The airline later issued statements on this front and apologized to the passengers for the incident as it was done out of abundance of caution.
