A couple allegedly left their 10-year-old child behind at an airport in order to make the flight.
Guardia Civil, which is Spain’s national police, shared recently with media outlets how the incident took place a few days back at the Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport.
As per the office, the boy was not able to board the flight with his parents because of errors linked to documentation. So in order to avoid missing their flight, they boarded anyway.
Mossos d’Esquadra, who are the local police, were first alerted about the incident and then sent out an alert to the Guardia Civil. The cops temporarily stopped the flight from proceeding to locate the loved ones. Once the authorities found the parents, they were immediately escorted off the plane and taken to the police station, where the child was held for safety reasons.
The cops shared more details about how the parents were reported for child abandonment, but refused to speak more on the matter.
The public first heard of this incident through a post shared on TikTok, and many were in shock when the airport employee posted the matter and confirmed that this was, in fact, a real incident. Since then, the parents have been investigated in this matter.
