Rapper Diddy Combs just scored a major courtroom victory after prosecutors decided to let go of major key parts of the charges against him.
In a new letter that was shared with the American District Judge Arun Subramanian, prosecutors mentioned how they no longer wished to pursue theories presented during the blockbuster trial.
This includes how the music mogul was involved in an attempted arson and kidnapping ordeal.
The alleged acts were included in the government’s racketeering conspiracy charge against Combs. All of those charges against him continue to remain.
The charge still alleges how the rapper was involved in providing transport for the likes of bribery, prostitution, witness tampering, and drug-based offenses.
The government is no longer planning to proceed with these kinds of theories of liability, and so instructions were not necessary, as shared in the letter.
The decision was made as a way to streamline the jury’s instructions, which are being discussed in the courtroom between lawyers and the judge.
The arson allegation stems from Rapper Kid Cudi’s testimony, which spoke about how Combs broke into his residence after finding out about his affair with his long-time lover and main accuser, Cassie Ventura.
