One man is going viral on social media after his car’s license plate was declared offensive in the state of Maine.
The plate featured the term, ‘LUVTOFU’ and the fact that it was a vanity piece belonging to a vegan had many confused as to what in the world is going on. And now, the matter has turned into an entire debate online.
Peter Starostecki says he had no idea that his number plate would turn into a viral sensation for all the wrong reasons. He similarly did not see eye to eye with the entire fiasco taking place at this moment in time. Why was his love for Tofu being discussed so much?
Did he not have the right to express his food likes and dislikes in public? These were just some of the many questions going through his mind.
As reported by local media outlets, the authorities were quick to get on his case and ban him from even thinking about using this number plate.
They said that ‘I love Tofu’ was a clear insult or dig to those eating meat and it’s just not acceptable in the state of Maine. But it did not take long for the incident to go viral. And some people couldn’t help but turn this into a viral debate.
Now, Peter who calls himself a vegan enthusiast is asking for answers. He wants to know what in the world is wrong with loving tofu and how it can be classified as obscene. And a lot of people are asking the same question. What is it that they see that he cannot?
“I was given a warning and I was so dumbfounded”- he continued.
The authorities were quick to reply to him and mention that the final two letters in the word tofu could get replaced and mean something else. What do you think?
