Madonna has finally admitted to undergoing plastic surgery after critics slammed her and branded her as unrecognizable.
The 64-year-old Queen of Pop came under fire after showing off a brand-new look at the Grammys earlier this month.
While she initially fought back against critics who condemned her for trying to defy the aging process and called her unrecognizable, Madonna now admitted to having plastic procedures recently done on her face.
“Look how cute I am now that swelling from surgery has gone down. Lol,” she wrote as she suggested her ‘swollen’ face at the Grammys was due to a recent procedure.
The pop star also shared a photo in which she’s seen posing in ripped jeans and a “Spiritually Hungry” hat with her arms crossed in front of her.
The photo, which some viewers called heavily edited, comes two weeks after the Like a Virgin hitmaker faced the heat over photos of her plump face that went viral.
“Madonna needs to stop with the plastic surgery and embrace the aging process. She’s nearly unrecognizable at this point,” someone wrote.
“So, I am just now watching the #GRAMMYs. Madonna doesn’t quite look like @Madonna to me,” another said.
After the backlash, Madonna released a lengthy statement in which she blamed her looks on the camera lens while insisting misogyny and ageism were the reason why she was called out.
“Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim- Many people chose to only talk about Close-up photos of me Taken with a long lens camera By a press photographer that Would distort anyone’s face!!” she wrote.
“Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women pass the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous.”
The singer also promised “many more years of subversive behavior” as she signed off saying negative comments about her won’t break her soul.
