Madonna has reportedly split from her boyfriend Andrew Darnell after five months of dating.
The 64-year-old singer appeared to be in a relationship with a 23-year-old model and skateboarded Andrew Darnell since August 2022.
As an insider now confirmed, however, the pair parted ways. The source also suggested the break-up – though not devastating – comes at a bad time for the Queen of Pop who is dealing with a “crisis of confidence” due to the backlash over her Grammy appearance.
“It was only a very casual thing so she’s not broken-hearted. It’s just that it has come at a bad time,” an insider said, Page Six reported.
They continued: “She’s having a bit of a crisis of confidence and this doesn’t help. She had a lot of fun with Andrew but it was never love or anything like that.”
The break-up comes shortly after Madonna faced a backlash with critics calling her out over her new appearance and saying she looked unrecognizable.
“Madonna needs to stop with the plastic surgery and embrace the aging process. She’s nearly unrecognizable at this point,” someone said after the singer’s Grammy appearance.
“So, I am just now watching the #GRAMMYs. Madonna doesn’t quite look like @Madonna to me,” another added.
Following the backlash, Madonna furiously hit back at her haters in a lengthy statement in which she blamed misogyny and ageism for the people’s response to her “distorted” face.
“Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim- Many people chose to only talk about Close-up photos of me Taken with a long lens camera By a press photographer that Would distort anyone’s face!!” she wrote.
“Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women pass the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous.”
Weeks after the event, however, Madonna spoke out once more and admitted she underwent a plastic procedure, hence her swollen face at the Grammys.
“Look how cute I am now that swelling from surgery has gone down. Lol,” she said as she shared a new photo of herself.
