Prosecutors shared more details about the Diddy trial, including how they now expect the music mogul to face a prison sentence that was much greater than the four to five years that they thought he would be given.
This was due to his conviction on two prostitution related charges.
They made this observation during the later hours of Thursday in a federal court in Manhattan, in which they also opposed Combs’ request this week to be released on bail worth $50 million while he waits for a sentencing in October of this year.
At the start of last month, he was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and trafficking linked charges carrying potential life prison terms, but was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution for arranging for girlfriends and male workers to travel to engage in the notorious behavior, which he filmed.
Every prostitution based charge carried a potential maximum of 10 years in jail. Prosecutors shared after the verdict that they thought federal sentencing guidelines meant to prevent wide disparities in sentencing for the same crimes would result in a jail term of four to five years.
