Liz Sheridan, who played Jerry Seinfeld’s mother on his hit show, passed away at the age of 93.
Jerry took to Twitter and lead tributes to the actress, writing: “Liz was always the sweetest, nicest TV mom a son could wish for.
“Every time she came on our show it was the coziest feeling for me. So lucky to have known her.”
Sheridan reportedly died from natural causes, TMZ reported.
According to the report, the New York-born star passed away ‘peacefully in her sleep’ on Friday at 2:30 am, only five days after celebrating her 93rd birthday.
Sheridan played the character of Seinfeld’s overprotective mother, Helen, on the hit show that run from 1993 to 1998.
Her character was known for her catchphrase, “How could anyone not like him?”
Sheridan starred in the show, which ran from 1993 to 1998, alongside Barney Martin who portrayed the character of Seinfeld’s father Morty.
She was also known for her role as Raquel Ochmonek in the show ALF from 1986 to 1990.
A trained dancer, she made her Broadway debut in 1971 in Frank Merriwell and went on to appear in several more productions, including the Meryl Streep-starring musical Happy End in 1977.
She then focused primarily on TV and film from the 1980s onward.
Sheridan was also an author, writing the autobiographical ‘Dizzy & Jimmy: My Life with James Dean: A Love Story.’
“Together they hunted for jobs, haunted all-night bars and diners, and gloried in the innocent rebellion of early-’50s bohemian New York,” the book description reads.
“Dizzy Sheridan and James Dean were lovers; they lived together; as even ardent Dean fans may be surprised to learn, they were engaged to be married.”
