It’s only been a day, and now we can confirm that the allegations of cover-up by the new Pope have arisen.
Yes, the world just got a new Pope, and he’s none other than Pope Leo XIV. But his arrival is certainly causing a stir amongst a certain group of people.
They are dedicated to the abused who accused the new Pope of looking the other way when it came down to religious leaders in his hometown, in Chicago’s churches.
The man who used to be known as Robert Prevost became the first American pontiff. He was almost immediately accused by a group called Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests of SNAP of covering up the church’s sins.
In another open letter, the group shared Leo’s assumptions and how he highlighted the grim reality of underpinning the College of Cardinals, which were also part of those who voted in this particular conclave.
‘He shielded abusers and that’s not acceptable’- it was shared.
The group said they got information from survivors and whistleblowers around the globe and were warned in the past about Pope Francis of Leo’s alleged culpability in these cover-ups.
As provincial of the Augustinians, Pope Leo allowed Father James Ray to reside at the Augustinians’ St. John Stone Friary in Chicago, despite knowing how close it was to the Catholic Elementary School.
