Las Vegas has experienced some of the worst floodings in history after torrential rains and hailstorms battered the city.
Just a week after record-breaking temperatures were noted across the nation, Nevada, Missouri, and Kentucky have been slapped by heavy downpours and flash floods causing catastrophic damage and killing dozens of people.
In Las Vegas, countless parking lots, streets, and buildings were left drenched in inches of water as a result of flash floods caused by powerful storms.
Affected by the downpour were also the iconic Las Vegas Strip and Caesar’s Palace itself.
According to the authorities, the flooding is not yet over and many roads remain impassable.
In videos and photos from Sin City, vehicles could be seen stuck in water and water could be seen pouring inside a casino from the roof.
“Electric surges set the fire alarms of several buildings off, causing fire responders to have to head out into the storm to respond to them,” Alexander Wolf, a Las Vegas resident, told The New York Post.
While no casualties have yet been reported in the city that never sleeps, things are looking much worse in Kentucky where at least 16 people were killed in flash floods on Friday.
Photos reveal that entire cars and even houses were submerged underwater completely in some areas.
It is feared that additional rain will cause rivers to continue overstepping their banks and contributing to the flooding in the state throughout the day.
Meanwhile, casualties have also been reported in Missouri where the amount of rainfall in St Louis broke a 100-year record.
With storms on the horizon, the city braces for more raging flash floods and rescue operations. So far, at least two people have been killed in St Louis as a result of the torrential rains.
Yesterday, firefighters managed to rescue 14 adults and 6 children from a daycare center after the building was filled with water reaching for electrical sockets.
Dozens of stranded people were also rescued from flooded Cornerstone Institutional Baptist Church.
