At least six people were said to have passed away while two remain missing after a boat capsized on Lake Tahoe.
The incident arose at about 3 pm local time on Saturday, when response teams were seen getting a report of 10 people in the water.
They were passengers on the 27-foot gold Chris-Craft boat that capsized near Bliss State Park on Lake Tahoe.
The news was shared by the US Coast Guard, which shared the details as part of the news release.
The vessel reportedly capsized due to the large swell, and six people are confirmed dead, and two others were transported to a local hospital.
The search for the two missing people is still said to be ongoing, as confirmed by the Coast Guard. Their identities were not released at this point in time.
At the time that the boat capsized, the weather was said to be 30 knot winds and 6 to 8 foot swell as per the release.
The Coast Guard Station Lake Tahoe in California responded to the scene first, with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office assisting them.
One seasonal lifeguard and ranger rescued two people and placed them onto nearby rocks and carried out CPR after spotting them in the water.
As the Coast Guard arrived, they saw another individual inside the water, and the lifeguard swam to help them. More investigations are taking place to determine what exactly led to this tragedy.
