Kim Cattrall has announced the death of her mother, Shane Cattrall, in a heartbreaking Instagram post.
The 66-year-old The Sex And The City star who played Samantha Jones in the HBO television show made the tragic announcement on Tuesday.
“Shane Cattrall 1929 – 2022. Rest in peace Mum,” she wrote as she shared a series of photos showing the mother and daughter side by side throughout the years.
The sad news comes months after Cattrall wished her mother a happy 93rd birthday. “Happy 93rd B’day Mum! We’re so lucky to still have you with us,” she wrote in her February post.
As of this writing, the cause of death remains unknown.
Cattrall’s heartbreak comes five years after she announced the death of her brother, Chris, who died at the age of just 55 years old.
“It is with great sadness that myself and my family announce the unexpected passing of our son and brother, Chris Cattrall,” she wrote at the time while sharing an old selfie with her brother.
“At this time we ask for privacy. We want to thank you all on social media for your outpouring of love and support in this trying time.”
Cattrall also publicly lashed out at her The Sex And The City co-star Sarah Jessica Parker after the latter sent her condolences amid their years-long rift.
“My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?’” Cattrall wrote in response to Parker’s message.
“Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now, ‘Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family.”
Our thoughts are with Kim and the family during this challenging time.
