Kelis and Bill Murray have gone their separate ways after just months of dating, sources confirmed.

The 72-year-old actor and the 44-year-old singer hit the headlines back in July when it was revealed they were enjoying each other’s company after “hitting it off.”

Now, it seems that the power couple’s relationship has run its course and that the spark between them died off.

“Kelis and Bill were — and still are — very fond of each other but things just ran their course,” a source told The Sun.

Speaking of the reasons behind the break-up, the insider added: “They both have busy schedules and after a whirlwind romance decided to go their separate ways.”

Earlier this year, another source told The Sun that the Ghostbusters star was seen supporting the Milkshake star at her shows and spending time with her in private.

“They met up in the States before, which got people in the industry talking, and now are meeting up in London while they’re both here,” the source said.

“They’ve clearly hit it off. They were both seen at the same hotel, and he’s been to watch her perform several times before he went to Mighty Hoopla. Whatever it is that has brought them together, and however unlikely it seems, they are both single and are having fun despite the fairly big age gap.”

Shortly after the news of their dating romance went viral, Kelis herself spoke out to defend herself from trolls accusing her of using the actor for fame and money.

Hitting back at the critics of her relationship, she said: “Yeah maybe for now everyone’s dumb and will believe anything but the best part is we are both blessed, rich and happy. So who’s really laughing now that’s funny.”
