Vice President Kamala Harris was slammed after she laughed when asked about the Ukrainian refugee crisis resulting from Russia’s attack.

Republican Representative Victoria Spartz, who was born in Ukraine, slammed Harris by saying “this is a very serious situation requiring action, not a laughing matter.”

Critics also criticized the vice president’s conduct at the press conference in Warsaw on Thursday.

This comes as Poland takes more than 1.5 million refugees fleeing Ukraine since Russia began the invasion.

When Harris was asked about the issue, she looked at Polish President Andrzej Duda like she was expecting him to speak first, then laughed through her comment: “A friend in need is a friend indeed.”

Her cackles were met with criticism, with former Donald Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos tweeting: “Kamala Harris has been very consistent during her live remarks with Poland’s leader. She is awkwardly laughing. Again. Discussing refugees is no laughing matter. Why she laughs at this is deranged.”

The chief creative officer of Turning Point USA, Benny Johnson, also said: “Only Kamala Harris would find it appropriate to laugh when talking about the topic of Ukrainian Refugees.”

Harris has previously faced backlash for laughing during inappropriate moments.

After the withdrawal from Afghanistan in August last year, the vice president cut off reporters by laughing and saying: “Hold on, hold on, slow down, everybody.”

Harris vowed that over $50 million more in humanitarian aid will be given to Ukraine but dodged questions about the dropped deal to send warplanes.

“The issue facing the Ukrainian people and our allies in the Eastern flank is something that occupies one of our highest priorities,” she said, describing it a “dynamic situation” that “requires us to be nimble and to be swift.”
