Amber Heard claims the juror who sided with Johnny Depp during her court fight had impersonated a real juror who had a matching last name.
The actress and her legal team even went as far as filing a new court document that demanded a retrial, adding how this behavior was unacceptable because the juror who should have been there wasn’t.
But the claims are being dismissed by Johnny Depp’s legal team who says the accusations are baseless and even if they are proven to be true, they couldn’t be accounted for by the decision that was given unanimously by the jury after review of the entire trial’s evidence.
“These are just the most desperate claims that one can ever come across. She is behaving in a very outlandish way and it’s incredible what types of arguments are being put forward in front of the judge”- Depp’s legal team continued.
But Amber Heard’s lawyers aren’t backing down with their claims which they state to be very serious. According to them, it’s a huge criminal offense that needs to be taken a good look at.
They added how appalling it was to see a 77-year-old make their way to jury service as mentioned in the court documents but then to have a 52-year-old actually appear is beyond absurd.
Heard’s lawyers also claim the juror had the same address and last name as the person who was not selected and such confusion cannot be allowed in a public trial. To be more exact, Heard’s group of lawyers mentioned that her right to a jury and a trial had been undermined and this sort of compromise couldn’t be allowed for.
They had hoped for a mistrial but the latest news on this front is that a judge has denied all of Amber Heard’s post-trial motions and that means her claims and hopes of having the verdict thrown out are down the drain.
