Amber Heard will not be getting a retrial as all of the actress’s post-trial motions were recently dismissed by the judge.
Recently released court documents obtained by Daily Mail revealed how Judge Penny Azcarate reportedly denied all of the arguments put forward by Amber Heard and her legal team.
The motions had been filed this month by Heard’s team of lawyers who stated that the verdict handed down by the jury was not supported by any evidence. Therefore, on that note, there was proof that was guilty of defaming Johnny Depp.
In addition to that, Amber Heard’s lawyers argued that one of the members of the jury was not properly vetted and therefore she questioned if he was even capable or liable to serve as a jury member for the case.
Meanwhile, Johnny Depp’s team of lawyers are now responding to the ruling of the court, adding how this was the result that they had expected.
Heard’s post-trial motions were included in a 43-page long memorandum that argued against the verdict and how unfair it was.
They also hoped for the $10 million defamation charges to be dropped on the basis of a lack of evidence.
Amber Heard highlighted how jury member 15 had mentioned in his court documents that his birth year was 1945 and that cast a lot of doubts in her and other people’s minds about his validity to be on the jury because his other public documents revealed his birth year to be 1970.
Johnny Depp’s legal team yesterday revealed how the allegations being put forward by Amber Heard and her team are outlandish, desperate, and baseless, adding how the question about a jury member’s validity would have no impact on the verdict of the trial that was revealed.
Amber Heard’s legal team was also seen stating that the amount outlined as damages for the case was uberly excessive but after all of her allegations and post-trial motions being dismissed, it looks like the celeb is stuck in a sticky mess.
