US President Donald Trump has chosen to move ahead at a swift pace with his $10 billion lawsuit against media giant Wall Street Journal.
The news comes after the media house giant published a story detailing Trump’s controversial birthday letter that was sent to Jeffrey Epstein.
This story reported the strong ties that Trump had to the wealthy financier Epstein.
The move comes after the DOJ asked a federal court to unseal grand jury transcripts linked to Epstein’s trafficking case, as the administration sought to quell the firestorm that arose after it shared that it would not be rolling out more files from this case, despite pledging to do so in the past.
The controversy created a massive fissure between Trump and his loyal base, with some of his most vocal supporters slamming the White House for the way in which this case was handled and questioning why Trump would not want these documents made public.
Trump vowed to sue the WSJ almost immediately after the paper put out the story in the spotlight, garnering criticism against Trump across the board.
The letter was described as a sexually suggestive one that bore Trump’s name. Meanwhile, the President denied writing this letter, calling the story false, malicious, and defamatory.
