Johnny Depp has taken his supporters by surprise as he joined TikTok and shared his first video on the platform.
In just a matter of hours after joining the social media platform, the Pirates of the Caribbean star racked up more than six million followers.
He also shared a viral clip in which he is seen greeting his fans and performing on stage as part of his UK tour with Jeff Beck.
Along with the short clip, the actor also posted the following message:
“To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together.
“We did the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we will all move forward together. You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD.”
Soon enough, Johnny was inundated with messages from his supporters of whom many were thrilled and shocked to see the actor on TikTok.
Not everyone, however, was happy about the actor’s presence on TikTok.
Speaking to E! News, Amber Heard’s spokesperson said Depp’s “moving forward” means women’s rights are “moving backward.”
“As Johnny Depp says he’s ‘moving forward,’ women’s rights are moving backward. The verdict’s message to victims of domestic violence is… be afraid to stand up and speak out,” the spokesperson said.
The news comes days after Johnny Depp won his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard and after a judge ordered the actress to pay her ex-husband $10.35 million for defaming him in her 2018 op-ed for The Washington Post.
Following the verdict, Depp spoke out and thanked the jury for giving him his life back.
