Johnny Depp could be asked to return to the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean installment, a former Disney executive reveals.

Following Amber Heard’s bombshell accusations against her ex-husband in her op-ed for The Washington Post back in 2018, the Hollywood A-lister was sacked from the franchise’s sixth film.

As Depp’s legal team argued in his blockbuster defamation trial, the actor lost $22 million as a result of his failed deal with Disney.

Johnny also said getting kicked from the movie felt as if Disney executives treated him like he was “guilty until proven innocent.”

Now that the 58-year-old has cleared his name in court, however, Disney could approach him once more to cast him as the beloved Captain Jack Sparrow, a former executive who chose to remain anonymous told People.

“I absolutely believe post-verdict that Pirates is primed for rebooting with Johnny as Captain Jack back on board. There is just too much potential box-office treasure for a beloved character deeply embedded in the Disney culture,” the former Walt Disney Studios executive told People.

They added: “There is huge appetite for bringing back bankable Hollywood stars in massively popular franchises.”

While Disney might try their best to bring the star back, it is not clear whether Depp is willing to have anything to do with the studio after everything that went down in the last few years.

As one insider, however, told the publication, the actor could be forced to accept the role due to his alleged “money problems” and the fact that Pirates of the Caribbean is a “billion-dollar global franchise.”
