Johnny Depp has been paid millions to continue being the face of Dior Sauvage.
The 60-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star previously partnered up with the luxury fashion house in 2015, the same year he tied the knot with ex Amber Heard.
After the actress’s bombshell allegations in her 2018 piece for The Washington Post, Dior stood by Depp’s side as he got entangled in a long and expensive battle that ultimately turned out in his favor when the actor won his defamation case against Heard.
It was earlier this year reported that Dior renewed its contract with the Edward Scissorhands star and paid him “upwards of $20 million” for a three-year deal.
Now, a first look into the new campaign has been unveiled.
In the clip shared by Christian Dior, Depp can be heard saying: “An eagle cries as it circles its prey. The blazing sun high in the ozone blue sky. A trail of cold wind stirs around dry wood and stone.”
Meanwhile, Dior paid tribute to their partner on social media as they branded Depp as “fearless” and “powerful.”
“Bold and powerful, in his essence, his truth, embodies the soul of Sauvage,” they wrote.
The contract is believed to be the highest-paid fragrance deal made by men in history, whereas Depp was paid double the amount Robert Pattinson previously earned working as Dior Homme spokesperson.
While most A-listers rake in somewhere between $2 and $5 million as part of their fragrance deals, even Brad Pitt couldn’t come close to Depp’s $20 million deal with his $7 million contract with Chanel No. 5.
