Johnny Depp has delivered an emotional testimony at a Fairfax, Virginia, court as he took the stand in his $50 million defamation trial.
Standing up to his ex-wife Amber Heard in an attempt to clear his name following allegations of domestic abuse, Depp recalled the times his “cruel” mother mentally, physically, and verbally abused him when he was a child.
The A-list actor went on to claim he never knew what his mother would do to him as he said he was never provided with a sense of security and safety.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star then opened up about his reaction to Heard’s allegations as he revealed they left him in “complete shock” because he never “struck any woman” in his life.
“About six years ago Miss Heard made some quite heinous and disturbing criminal acts against me that were not based in any species of truth. It was a complete shock that it would, it just didn’t need to go in that direction as nothing of the kind had ever happened,” he said.
“Through the relationship there were arguments and things of that nature but never did I myself reach the point of striking Miss Heard in any way nor have I ever struck any woman in my life.”
According to Depp, the only thing he is now interested in is getting to the bottom of the story and bring out the truth because “lies will get you nowhere.”
“Truth is the only thing I’m interested in. Lies will get you nowhere, but lies build upon lies and build upon lies. I’m obsessed with the truth,” Depp added.
Depp is set to further open up about his relationship with Heard on Wednesday.
