John Travolta teared up as he delivered a heartbreaking tribute to the late actress Olivia Newton-John at the Oscars.
Taking to the stage to present the In Memoriam segment at the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night, the Hollywood legend took the time to honor his Grease star who passed away on August 8, 2022, after a long battle with breast cancer.
“They’ve touched our hearts, they’ve made us smile, and became dear friends, who we will always remain hopelessly devoted to,” the Saturday Night Fever star began.
Before he could continue, the 69-year-old actor teared up and began choking on his words.

The latter then performed his hit song ‘Calling All Angels’ on the piano while a video tribute to late entertainment industry stars including Jean-Luc Goddard, Ray Liotta, Julie Reichert, Angela Lansbury, Raquel Welch, James Caan, Irene Cara, Burt Bacharach, Mary Alice, and Angelo Badalamenti played in the background.point 276 | 1
Travolta’s tribute comes more than half a year after he paid a touching tribute to his longtime friend and Grease co-star following her passing.
“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much,” the actor wrote at the time.
“We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!”
Travolta’s original tribute came shortly after Newton-John’s family announced her death and revealed that the actress died peacefully at her ranch in Southern California while surrounded by her loved ones.
