An Air Force base in New Jersey was issued an urgent lockdown on Friday and told all personnel to take over.
The Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst about 40 minutes outside Philadelphia shared that the lockdown was announced at 11 am on Tuesday. An hour later, the base gave an all clear in a statement shared through Facebook.
Officials mentioned how they would provide an update with more details as they became available.
Fears for the safety mounted after the base shared that there is a lockdown at JBMDL. All personnel are to lock down until further notice. ‘All personnel outdoors should take over’- the statement read.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy confirmed more about the incident and wrote on X: ‘If you are on the base, please follow the instructions of your commanders and emergency response officials!’
Officials have yet to confirm what exactly prompted this major lockdown. The base is said to be the biggest military facility in New Jersey, which houses more than 42,000 service member civilians.
