The 52-year-old Marvel star suffered severe chest trauma and orthopedic injuries when he was crushed by his 14,300-pound snow plow while trying to help a relative caught in the snow near Lake Tahoe on New Year’s Day.

According to the earlier reports, the Avengers actor briefly exited his vehicle to talk to his relative when the snow plow started moving. While attempting to get back in and stop it, Renner was crushed by the heavy machinery, leaving him with 30 broken bones.

It was now confirmed in a Nevada sheriff’s office incident report that Jeremy was trying to pull his nephew’s truck out of the snow during the accident.

The report also reveals that Jeremy exited the snow plow without engaging the parking brake first. Though the vehicle had some “mechanical issues,” it is believed the accident would have been prevented if the actor utilized the parking brake before exiting the snow plow.

“The PistenBully snow groomer began sliding causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake,” the report reads according to CNN.

“Although the PistenBully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the PistenBully from moving forward.

The report, however, acknowledges the fact that certain mechanical issues – such as the broken brake light indicator – may have contributed to the accident.

The news comes after Jeremy and his family revealed that the Marvel star has kicked off his lengthy recovery journey and after Renner was pictured in a hospital bed during a physical therapy session at his Lake Tahoe home.
