‘Broken Strings’ singer James Morrison’s wife Gill Catchpole’s cause of death has been confirmed after a post-mortem examination was carried out.
According to reports, the mother-of-two was found unresponsive in their Gloucestershire home on January 5.
Police told The Mirror that they were called to the property where they found ‘the body of a woman in her 40s.’
A source said that Morrison is ‘holding it together’ for the sake of their children, Ada, 5, and Elsie, 15.
After carrying out the post-mortem examination, pathologist Dr. Terry Jones gave the provisional cause of death as hanging.
The inquest also revealed that the mother-of-two was found by her husband, who was called by a friend who could not get into the house.
Police and paramedics arrived at the property and announced Catchpole’s death at 9:37 am.
According to Daily Mail, samples were taken from the mother’s body for further analysis.
Police officers reportedly said that there were no suspicious circumstances involved.
Catchpole owns a sandwich shop in Whitminster. A woman who worked with her said to the Daily Mail: “I saw Gill very regularly, right up until her death, which has affected us all because we’re like one big family around here.
“She was always waving, saying hello, and stopping to chat. She told me just a few days ago that she was looking forward to the future and making big changes in 2024.”
The woman added: “I never sensed anything was wrong because that was Gill. She was a very positive and determined person who had gone through a lot recently.”
Catchpole and Morrison tied the knot in 2006 when she moved into his mother’s home as a lodger.
The singer has now put work commitments aside to focus on caring for his two children.
