‘The Cosby Show’ star Malcolm Jamal Warner has passed away at the age of 54.
The news was first shared by media outlet TMZ who confirmed from an insider that the star was in Costa Rica at the time on a family vacation when the incident took place.
He is believed to have drowned while swimming. As per the Costa Rican National Police, Warner drowned near Cocles after getting caught by a high current inside the water and was found during the afternoon hours of Sunday.
Warner’s cause of death was asphyxia, as per the police. No other details regarding the matter were shared with the press. Other reports mentioned that an investigation is taking place, and more details will only be shared when the time is right.
The star was known for playing roles such as Theo, who was Bill Cosby’s son, on the hit show from the famous NBC sitcom from 1984 to 1992.
In 2021, Warner exclusively spoke to The Post about the legacy of The Cosby Show following Cosby’s assault conviction that later got overturned. He always took pride in his role and was grateful for the fact that it touched so many lives and young people.
