Hopes are now fading for the injured climber who was reportedly stuck on a mountain inside Kyrgyzstan for 12 days after a mission of rescue mission needed to be aborted due to poor weather conditions.
Natalia Nagovitsyna was believed to be descending from the top of the Jengish Chokusu, or famous Victory Peak, which is located at the border with China. That is when she is believed to have broken her leg.
A spokesperson for Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations spoke to CNN in a new message where the experienced mountaineer was believed to be stuck on the mountain since. This is despite the fact that rescue attempts were made and that even claimed the life of another climber.
A group of climbers did manage to reach Nagovitsyna after suffering from a serious injury. As per Russian and Italian media reports, they were able to provide her with the right kind of supplies. They just couldn’t be evacuated due to extreme weather conditions on that mountain at the time.
As per one mountaineer from Italy, the climbers were trying to save Nagovitsyna, and one of them, from Italy, died on August 15, as per a statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry shared more about how the poor weather conditions also made it impossible to retrieve his remains.
