The storm is currently building up over the Caribbean and could progress into a major hurricane over the weekend if conditions, including moisture levels and water temperature, allow it.

As DeSantis added, the state’s National Guard would be activated while “important resources and support, as well as free up funding sources for emergency protective measure” will be made available.

In a statement to fellow Floridians, the authorities also directly addressed the people and urged those in affected counties to “begin preparing and ensuring their family emergency supply kit is ready and stocked with food, water, and medicine.”

Besides the direct threat that the potential hurricane poses to Florida, there are also rising fears of flash floods, landslides, strong winds, and possible tornado activity in the region.
