Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have parted ways after 27 years of marriage.
In a joint statement, the couple confirmed that their journey is “shifting” and that they have decided to go separate ways in order to pursue their individual growth.
“We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” Jackman and Furness shared, People first reported.
“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
The couple concluded their message by signing their statement and declaring this was the “sole statement” they were going to make.
Hugh and Deborra-Lee met in 1995 before tying the knot just a year later. They share two adoptive children including Ava, 18, and Oscar, 23.
The shocking news comes just months after the Wolverine star posted a touching tribute to his now-estranged wife on their 27th wedding anniversary.
“I love you Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 years! I love you so much,” the Australian actor proclaimed.
“Together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage, and loyalty is an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart.”
Earlier this year, Jackman also opened up about his relationship with the actress while crediting “intimacy” and “making time” for the longevity of your marriage.
“I think honesty and intimacy and making time [are the secret to a long marriage]. You can’t just assume that things will just tick along okay. You have to make time,” he said.
