A volcanic eruption in Indonesia spewed a colossal ash tower into the sky on Tuesday as per authorities who raised the alarm status to the highest level and urged the tourists and locals to stay far away.
Mouth Lewotobi Laki-Laki, which happens to be a 1584 meter high twin peaked volcano on the tourist island of Flores, erupted at nearly 5:35 pm local time.
Indonesia’s Geology Agency mentioned in a new statement how it recorded the volcano rolling out 10,000 meters of thick grey clouds on Tuesday afternoon.
This is right after a series of major volcanic activities, including 50 in two hours, instead of the usual 8 to 10 activities taking place.
The height of the eruption column was said to be nearly 10,000 meters above the summit. The ash column was said to be grey with thick intensity.
The agency mentioned how it raised the alert level of this volcano to the most dangerous warning of potential lava flows if it began to rain down heavily. There were no immediate reports of damages or casualties, and it was not yet clear if the flights had been disrupted as a result of this.
