A helicopter has crashed into the Hudson River in New York, the police confirmed on Thursday.
The incident is said to have taken place near Pier 40 in New York City. Both Marine and land units were seen rushing to the scene of the crash.
So far, it’s not clear how many people were on board, the New York Fire Department explained to CBS News.
Videos circulating on social media showed some debris floating in the river. The crash reportedly arose at about 15:15 EDT and was said to have taken place closer to the New Jersey side of the Hudson River.
Boat traffic and street traffic in the region were on hold for the moment. More details are yet to be revealed as many await a press conference on the incident.
Sources have so far confirmed that one person was killed in the incident where the helicopter crashed while four others were pulled out from the water.
Wreckage can be seen floating on the water as witnesses described the horror moment that the chopper split into two before hitting the river.
