A couple has painted their entire house in the colors of Ukraine’s flag to show support for the embattled nation.
During Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and its major cities, people from around the world have been voicing their support for the innocent victims of the war in different ways.
Instead of being just verbal about their stance on the matter, one couple from the UK decided to take things a step further by painting their house blue and yellow.
According to Rend Platings, it was her husband’s idea to buy two tubs of paint and give their home a brand-new look consistent with the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
“It was my husband’s idea. He just assumed other people would have done it anyway,” the woman revealed.
“He sent me a WhatsApp with some tubs of paint, two five-liter tubs that he bought, and said ‘How about we paint the house, what do you think?’ I said ‘That would be amazing.’”
Platings went on to reassure that the only reason for their decision was to show support for the Ukrainian people and their Ukrainian friends whom they visited just weeks before the war broke out.
“Unequivocally we feel that Russia has been the aggressor, the bully. There are very few cases where there are so clearly bad guys and such a wrong thing to happen to people,” she added.
“We especially feel for the parents who are over there and the children. There are heartbreaking stories of children that are running out of medicine, need treatment, that are scared to leave their homes or their bunkers and cellars. They are left with a choice none of us would want to have.”
While the couple admitted that this is something that might go far on social media, they insisted they didn’t do it for themselves.
“It’s really not about us but people have said they’re proud to be our friends. People in Ukraine have appreciated the support that they’re getting from everyone all over the world,” Platings says.
