The last 20 living hostages held by Hamas in Gaza have now returned back home safely after nearly two years in captivity, the Israeli Military confirmed.
The hostages were reportedly kidnapped by Hamas during the October 7 attacks in 2023 and they included twin brother Ziv and Gali Berman, who were recently pictured together in Gaza this morning.
The remains of the other 28 hostages are yet to be handed over, sources shared. In exchange for the hostages, Israel released 250 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails and more than 1700 detainees, with the first batch having left Israeli prisons.
Donald Trump is currently in Israel and addressing the parliament. He will then make his way to Egypt for a peace summit with world leaders. Before this, Trump had confirmed that the war is over in Gaza, but many still remain skeptical, as this is just phase one of the peace plan and wonder what the future holds.
Similarly, buses carry prisoners from Palestine were seen arriving in Ramallah, the de facto Palestinian capital of the occupied West Bank.
As mentioned, nearly 1700 detainees from Gaza and 250 priosoners from Palestine are being released today as part of this ceasefire deal.
