Tragic reports have confirmed the death of a young child who died under the most circumstances.
He passed away while receiving oxygen therapy at the Oxford Center.
According to reports from local media outlets, the child was being treated with hyperbaric oxygen but then all of a sudden, the tank delivering the treatment exploded.
The incident took place in the Detroit suburb of Troy, where the explosion killed him in an instant and began a fire.
Despite the Oakland Country Fire Department arriving within minutes after the 911 call was made at 9 am on Friday, he was declared dead.
His mom was said to be standing outside the chamber when it blew up so she similarly got injured in the blast but is expected to survive.
The fire at the rest of the facility was also put out with immediate effect. The center opened its doors for the treatment in 2008 and is now closed for an indefinite period for investigation.
Hyperbaric oxygen is used to treat all types of health conditions like carbon monoxide poisoning, foot ulcers arising from diabetes mellitus, and the bends. For now, it’s not confirmed what condition the young victim was being treated for at the time.
