From the start, the British strategy for the visit of President Trump has been very simple, and that includes just pushing the boat out.
During that event, it was said to be more than just an aircraft carrier as the US head of state appeared smitten by Princess Kate, who he was seated by.
All state visits are special, but Trump seemed to be loving this one to the core, calling it one of the highest honors of his life. He acknowledged that last night’s State Banquet was a dazzling affair. The president praised the King and Britain, and he really did seem like he was having a great time.
He received the highest guard of honor ever for a state visitor or a Trump-friendly carriage procession in place of the usual traditional route.
And this was just in the first half hour. By the mid-afternoon hours, after a light lunch and a private wreath laying at the tomb of Elizabeth II, there was a further tri-Service military display.
This ended in a Trooping of the Color-style flypast by the Red Arrows, which really thrilled the guest of honor in more ways than one. Many critics said they usually saw something of this kind once a year at the Sovereign’s Birthday Parade. Yesterday, however, they were treated to a one-off hybrid version, which was Trooping the Donald.
